A true Scottish experience would not be complete without savouring a whisky or two in the lovely little wood panelled Whisky Bar with its light hearted charm and intimate character. With a quite sensational selection of over 120 single malts, the bar has enough to please even the greatest of connoisseurs.
The little west-facing lounge next to the whisky bar is beautifully light and sunny with large, invitingly comfortable sofas. You can't help but relax and enjoy the views. Sumptuous fabrics, antique mirrors and artefacts and fresh flowers all add to the sense of welcome and comfort.
Both lounges are west facing, enabling you to watch the sun set while you settle down with an aperitif.
Fishing
Wonderful unspoilt game fishing at a plethora of local lochs and rivers. There are five major game fishing rivers in Dumfries & Galloway, the Border Esk, Annan, Nith, Cree and the Bladnoch, with a plethora of smaller rivers such as the Urr, Dee and the Water of Luce.

Fishing
The fishing is superb with everything from small brown trout in the burns to the vast numbers of good sized Tope that visit the waters every year. The lochs hold some superb coarse fish and trout and two famed salmon rivers in the catchment area the Cree and Bladnoch.
Shooting
We can arrange stalking, where you will be accompanied by a qualified stalker. This is available whether you are a novice and wish to try the sport for the first time, or a competent stalker.They are able to arrange stalking throughout the region, on some of the best stalking areas and private estates available.
Hiking
Get even closer to nature and with over 1,300 miles of way marked trails you can discover somewhere new every day. With walks along coastal and forest trails, through open moorland or in and around our towns, you're sure to find a route to suit your ability and interests.
Horse Riding
With schools and trekking centres catering for those new to horses and ponies to the experienced rider, offering lessons, treks and horse-driving instruction you'll be sure to find a horse or pony to suit you. Pony trekking or horse riding facilities are available for the enthusiast within easy reach. Details of horse riding facilities may be obtained from the hotel.
Cycling
Dumfries & Galloway is famed for its stunning landscapes and coastline and travelling by bicycle is the ideal way to explore. So bring your bicycle, or hire one , and enjoy a thoroughly invigorating break.
Clays
A fully equipped range has been set up at Glenluce, catering for every need. Using fully automatic and electronically controlled traps with a minimum of 250 clay carousels throwing a variety of different clays - standards, midis, minis, rabbits and battues.
Knockinaam Lodge is noted for its elegance and warmth - it has the warm, inviting feel of a delightful, private country house rather than the formal atmosphere of many country house hotels. Having only ten bedrooms gives you the feeling you are staying with friends.
Ten wonderful bedrooms, ten individual 'personalities', all individually decorated. Pleasantly old fashioned, yet unobtrusively modern, thoughtfully appointed, offering a quite unique traditional ambience, yet with every contemporary comfort, including private bath, digital television and direct dial telephones, as well as wonderful tiled fireplaces in a selection of rooms.
Creating that feeling that they were just made for you no matter which one you choose. This combination of modern guest standards laced with an unmistakable feeling of yesteryear is much talked about by visitors… and undoubtedly remembered with fondness and affection. And rooms named after erstwhile residents - such as 'Churchill’ add to the nostalgic charm.

Chuchill
Overlooking the gardens, with a partial sea view, Churchill is one of the largest rooms in the hotel. This is where Sir Winston Churchill stayed at Knockinaam. It has a Super King-Sized Sleigh bed and a seating area with original fireplace. The bathroom features an 100yr old enamelled concrete soaking bath and a walk in shower.
A dog is permitted to stay in this room, by prior arrangement, and will incur a charge.
South
This double aspect, sea view room is one of the brightest rooms in the hotel, capturing both the morning and afternoon sun as well as stunning sunsets. It maybe prepared as either a Super King or Twin bedded room. The bathroom has a large bath from which you can look out the window and watch the waves coming into shore. It also has a walk in shower.
A dog is permitted to stay in this room, by prior arrangement, and will incur a charge.
Bay
The most romantic room, featuring a Victorian Tester Bed and sea views. It has a small seating area, and also a window seat which looks across the Irish Sea. This room captures the afternoon sun and evening sunsets. There is a spacious bathroom that overlooks the gardens and has a bath and walk in shower.
Pond
This good sized room captures the morning sun and overlooks the pond and surrounding gardens. It can be prepared as a Super King or Twin bedded room and includes a small seating area. The bathroom is the largest in the hotel with a large bathtub, double sinks and walk in shower.
A dog is permitted to stay in this room, by prior arrangement, and will incur a charge.
Glen
This is the largest of our standard rooms which overlooks the pond and drive. It can be prepared as a Super King or Twin room. The bathroom is newly refurbished with a large bath and overhead thermostatic shower.
East
This is a small, colourful King-Sized double room, overlooking the pond and surrounding gardens. The refurbished bathroom has a full sized bath with thermostatic shower overhead.
Whin
This bedroom has triple aspect windows with glorious views over the sea, cliffs and gardens. It can be prepared as either a Super King or Twin bedded room and has a separate lounge area. The bathroom features a roll top bath and walk in pressurised shower.
Bachelor
This bright double room features a King-Sized bed, views over the garden and an original fireplace. The bathroom has a bathtub with overhead shower. It shares a lobby with Whin, perfect for when an adjoining room is required.
West
Converted in June 2008, this second floor room takes advantage of glorious sea views to Ireland. This bedroom has a window seat, and can be either a Super King or Twin bedded room. The bathroom is more contemporary, featuring a large central walk in shower, oversized bath and underfloor heating.
Hannay
Converted in June 2008, this second floor room also takes full advantage of panoramic views of the Bay. This Super King bedded room with a separate lounge area takes up the majority of the length of the hotel, especially when used in conjunction with Croft. The bathroom has underfloor heating, walk in shower and a Victorian Roll Top bath with a window above, perfect for star gazing.
Hannay and Croft
Hannay can be linked with Croft (a twin bedded room) via the bathroom, to make a purpose built family suite.
