HistoryVilla Crespi is in Orta
San Giulio, in the heart of Piemonte,
just a few km away from Malpensa… and this fairy
villa is the dream come true of a real lover of beauty of the Orient.
Cristoforo Benigno Crespi was born in Busto
Arsizio, after becoming a successful trader in cotton and
totally charmed by Bagdad; in 1879, he built this
Moorish villa on the land near the lake where he had spent most of his
childhood.
During the thirties Villa Crespi was sold
to the Marquis Fracassi of Torre Rossano and over
the years poets and captains of industry, princesses, kings and queens
have graced its halls. Just to mention King Umberto and Queen
Margherita of Savoia.
At the end of the eighties, after becoming a spirituality
place for a few years and a private house, it has been transformed by
its present owner into this exclusive 4-stars hotel where nature, art
and history entwine to leave their guests with unforgettable
memories.
