HistoryThe history of the Taschenbergpalais goes back to the year 1709, when
Augustus the Strong had it built for Countess Cosel by the baroque architect
Poeppelmann. It was not long before the Palais became a Center of social life,
accommodating crown princes and royal guests. The Building was destroyed during
World War II, after which only its morbid beauty gave any hint of its former
splendor.
Built by August the Strong in the eighteenth century and recently completely
restored, the Kempinski Taschenbergpalais blends baroque style
with contemporary elegance. Located in the heart of the historic City of
Dresden, it is only a few steps from the famous " Zwinger " and the
Semper Opera House, 9 kilometers from Dresden Klotzsche Airport, a short Taxi /
Tramcar ride from Dresden's Main Railway Station.
The 155 seat (75 inside / 80 outside) Intermezzo Restaurant
serves light modern cuisine, while the 120 seat Paulaner's Bistro
provides an informal alternative.
