The 16th century Bassi Fort, 25 km from Chittorgarh is set amidst the
hills of the Vindhyachal ranges. The ornate gates, domes, arches and corridors
of the palace recall the grandeur of another era when valour, honour as well as

restored, maintaining the integrity of the original structure while subtly

HistoryThe Bassi Fort is a testament to the glorious history of the Chundawat
clan. It was built in the 16th century by Thakur Jaimal of the Sisodia dynasty,
cousin of Maharana Pratap, founder of the Bassi principality. Six of the
ancestors of Rawat Sahib Kesri Singh Ji, present head of the Bassi Chundawat
family laid down their lives defending Mewar and the famous Chittogarh fort. The
16th century home of the Moewar nobility has been painstakingly restored,
preserving its old world charm, décor and grandeur while enhancing comfort with
modern amenities.
Bassi Fort is just 25 km from the Chittogarh Fort, unrivalled
in fame and stature in the region as the most impressive fort. 5 km from the
Fort is the Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary with its gentle slopes and large water
bodies where panther, wild boar, antelopes and mongoose can be sighted.
