Location
The island of Rodos is situated between the Aegean and the Mediterranean seas about 11 km from the coast of Asia Minor (Turkey). It has a population of about 100.000 inhabitants. It is by far the largest island in the Dodecanese with an area of about 1400 sq. km. Rodos is diamond-shaped, 77 km long with a maximum width of about 36km. There is a range of hills rising in the center with mount Ataviros the highest at about 1200m. Finally much of the island is fertile with a variety of fauna and flora.
