Toravaig House, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland is a small, contemporary Hebridean Gem offering an intimate atmosphere, attention to detail, refreshingly welcoming staff but above all, delicious, innovative cuisine. The hotel is set amongst the natural beauty of Skye, in the Western Isles of Scotland.
The hotel’s peaceful location with views over the ruins of Knock Castle c.1345 is the perfect place to relax and unwind whether on holiday, as a wedding venue (or honeymoon venue) or enjoying a romantic getaway for two. The hotel also has views over the Sound of Sleat, which separates Skye from mainland Scotland.
All of the nine individually designed en-suite hotel rooms are intimate in character and rich in fabrics and contemporary furnishings. The lounge offers squashy sofas and a crackling log fire, perfect for enjoying fine malts or delicious wines before dinner where the finest contemporary cuisine that Skye’s legendary larder can provide will be served. All ingredients are locally sourced from Skye and around Scotland - the freshly caught langoustines and lobsters, just landed by the fishing boats, to homegrown leaves and herbs. The kitchen is filled with only the freshest produce. The team, lead by Head Chef Chris Brayshay, will surprise you with innovative combinations and tastes, never known before.
The Hotel is located at the southern end of the Isle of Skye, and can be reached equally well from either the Skye Bridge at Kyle, or from the ferry at Armadale. By Car By the Skye Bridge take A87 to Broadford. Turn left to Armadale, Sleat (A851) on approach to Broadford Continue towards Armadale for approx.10 mls. The hotel is less than one mile from the Tarskavaig junction on the main A851 and on the left hand side of the road.
By Plane The most convenient airports are Inverness (80 miles) and Glasgow (210 miles). Drive up to Skye, getting on the A87 at Invergarry (Drive up at Spean Bridge, or drive down when you are in Inverness, following Drumnadrochit and and Invermoriston). By Train The nearest Railway station is Kyle of Lochalsh. There is a bus from Kyle to Broadford from where you may take a taxi to reach us. By vehicle ferry from Mallaig to Armadale The summer ferry runs 6 or 7 times a day (including Sundays although this service is not as frequent) between Mallaig and Armadale on the Isle of Skye. The winter service is limited to 2 journeys a day (Monday to Friday only). Journey time: 25 minutes. Vehicle reservation required. Bikes are carried free of charge.

In the evenings a soft relaxing candlelit atmosphere is created to enhance the pleasure of the culinary experience. Lunchtime guests can also enjoy the wonderful views over the gardens, Skye itself, the Sound of Sleat and the mainland mountains beyond.

If the waters don't tempt you, the bedrooms surely will. The rooms are freshly presented with newly laundered, luxuriously crisp white bedlinen on sleigh or brass beds, each room being individual and different with great attention to detail. Tastefully furnished bedrooms with every desirable amenity.
Toravaig offers nine immaculate and plush rooms. All rooms are naturally ensuite, with pressurised showers, and many also have baths. Of particular note are the beautiful fabrics and wallcoverings. Each room is named after an island and there is a selection of Double Rooms with feature beds as well as an executive single room. Autumn sees the introduction of our Suite which will combine the Colonsay and Mingulay bedrooms. All rooms have flat screen TVs and hospitality trays. Luxurious Arran Aromatic toiletries are used in the bathrooms.

Eriskay
The main feature of the Eriskay room is a beautiful roll top, dark wood, 5’ sleigh bed dressed with crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of gold, olive and warm wood tones, with dark oak furnishings.
Colonsay
Colonsay is a contemporary sea-facing room, with a seating area in a bay window ideal for in-room dining. There is an upholstered 5’ double bed with a large chequered headboard, dressed with crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of light nutmeg and copper.
Mingulay
Mingulay is a contemporary side facing small double room dressed in colours of gold, nutmeg and copper. An upholstered 5’ bed with a large chequered headboard are the main feature of this room.
Raasay
Raasay is a contemporary room with a sea view featuring a 5' double bed with a large chequered headboard and dressed in crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of aquamarine, cream and black.
Berneray
Berneray is a contemporary room with a sea view featuring a 5' double bed with a large chequered headboard and dressed in crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of gold and olive with a trace of purple.
Vatersay
Vatersay is a contemporary room with a hillside view featuring a 5' double bed with a large chequered headboard and dressed in crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of cream, pink and wine.
Oronsay
Oronsay is a contemporary rear facing small double room dressed in colours of light nutmeg, russet and copper. An upholstered 4'6" bed with a large chequered headboard is the main feature of this room.
Islay
Islay is a contemporary room with a hillside view which can be function as either a twin room or a double room, with a 5' zip and link bed. The room features a a large chequered headboard and is designed in colours of light yellow and mellow sage.
Taransay
Taransay is a contemporary room with a hillside view featuring a 5' double bed with a large chequered headboard and dressed in crisp white bedlinen. The room is designed in colours of cinnamon, gold and burnt orange.
