Notting Hill Gate is a vibrant, trendy and colorful corner of London, and in
recent years has also become one of the most prosperous. It attracts a large
cosmopolitan crowd who flock to the area to sample the varied and exciting
culinary delights from international chefs. There are also many unusual Shops,
although probably the most famous local attraction is Portobello Market, which
not only attracts a huge crowd from across London, but also a large proportion
of overseas visitors coming to London for the weekend. Notting Hill is also
famous as host to the largest street carnival in Europe. The Notting Hill
Carnival takes place over 2 days during the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The West-End and Theatre districts are all within easy reach either by taxi
or Public Transport. A short troll away is Hyde Park where customers can go
boating on the Serpentine, play Tennis or Horse ride in Rotten Row, or simply
enjoy a lovely walk. Royal Apartments are located in Kensington Gardens, whilst
there is a charming Wildlife Garden in Holland Park. Where, in your opinion, is the best place to return back to and relax after
exhausting all that London has to offer? The Abbey Court of course.
HistoryThe Abbey Court as you can see it now was last refurbished in 1996, at
which time the present carpet was fitted, and new wallpaper and paint color
schemes were selected for all public areas.
Also we completed the refurbishment of 10 Bedrooms, along with another 4 Rooms
in early 1997. Consequently, and in response to our clients' wishes, 11 Rooms
are now allocated as Non Smoking Rooms.
The Abbey is a listed Building of historical importance, dating from 1830. It
was converted to a Hotel in the 1960's and refurbished to upgrade its facilities
in the late 1980's. The antiques are carefully selected to enhance the ambience
of warmth and luxury.
The Abbey Court Hotel is a 4 Star Luxury Town House Hotel, with individually
designed En-suite Bedrooms, providing 24 hour Room Service and Porterage. The
Abbey Court is situated in peaceful Pembridge Gardens in Kensington. Shops,
Restaurants and the traditionally acclaimed antique emporiums of Kensington,
Chelsea and Portobello Road Antiques Market are all within easy reach. Efficient
local Transport systems operate to all parts of London, and the West-End is just
10 minutes away by Bus, Taxi or Underground Train.
The Abbey is conveniently located 100 meters from Notting Hill Gate
Underground Station, which served by District, Circle and Central Lines. This
means that customers can get to and from the Abbey speedily from virtually any
area of central London without having the inconvenience of changing trains. For
Customers arriving from Heathrow Airport, there is an Airbus Stop approximately
200 meters from Notting Hill Gate Station on the Bayswater road. The Piccadilly
Line underground from all terminals at Heathrow stops at Earls Court, where
customers can change to Edward Road ( District Line ) service, and get off at
Notting Hill Gate.
