Welcome to Fancourt, a resort in a country that has always
held attraction for travellers. You will enjoy Fancourt's
easy-going atmosphere in which you may learn more about South Africa and its
multi-faceted culture.
The combination of old world charm and contemporary luxury make the Fancourt
Hotel distinctive. At Fancourt, guests can choose between a room in the
beautifully restored Manor House or one of the many stately, newly refurbished
Garden Suites and Studios.
In the Manor House you will find a restful haven in a building with a history
dating back to the beginnings of the 19th century: In 1847, Henry Fancourt White
established a workers' base at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains for the
construction of the Montagu Pass, which you can still travel on. Now a National
Monument, the Manor House with its 34 Bedrooms is situated in a wooded parkland
and is the perfect base for your leisure or conference activities.
The Fancourt Hotel & Country Club is a member of The
Preferred Hotels.
HistoryOne hundred and forty years have passed since Henry Fancourt White built Blanco
House in the hamlet at the foot of Outeniqua Mountains, the mountains,
which today form the backdrop to the Fancourt Estate. Through the building of
the Montagu Pass the seeds were sown for the building of a family home which
would become the heart - and later the soul - of the Fancourt Estate.
The South African Home - now the Manor House in the hotel portfolio - is
still recognizable amid the ambitious developments that have surrounded it over
almost 150 years. The old home may no longer be the heart of the busy estate,
but it has certainly retained its soul. Spend some time in the stillness of the
garden, lounge and walk along the quiet passages. Imagine you are back in the
early days. Imagine life as it was then, with panama hats and buttonholes, with
grand pianos, camphor-wood chests, old silver and wild mushroom dinners. Imagine
you are not alone.
Old world charm and contemporary luxury link the graciousness of the past
with convenience of present to create a haven of tranquility and style.
